Based on the standard western calendar, a timeshare calendar has 52 weeks, with the exception of the unusual 53 week calendar year which depends on the weekend dates within the month of December. A timeshare calendar can vary based on the check-in dates at a resort, with weeks beginning on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

According to the latest published numbers — a 2022 report by the American Resort Development Association (ARDA), millennials now account for half of all timeshare owners. In fact the average age of a timeshare owner is now 39 years old.

A rule adopted by certain vacation clubs, that states you are allowed to book a reservation at a specific resort only once every four years. If you are booking your preferred location, you will be allowed to book reservations there as often as your weeks or points will allow.

Investing in a timeshare isn't really investing because you could be sharing your unit with up to 51 other owners over the span of a year. You'll never actually have equity because you're just paying for your very small piece of the property. And the property never actually makes you any money.
