Gainesville, Florida Vijayalakshmi Chandrasekaran 2024 Mrs. Vijayalakshmi Chandrasekaran, age 84 unexpectedly passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at home. She leaves behind her loving family including son Dr. Chandra Nataraj, daughter-in-law, Dr. Uma Iyer, daughter Thangam, son-in-law Yesh Subramanian and grandchildren Akshaya, Akhila, Avinash, Arjun and Abirami. Born and raised in South India, Vijayalakshmi, known as Vijaya by her close friends and family, got her bachelor's degree in economics and also earned a master's degree in music. Gainesville, Florida Cheryl Palm 1954 — 2024 On January 24, 2024, Dr. Cheryl Ann Palm died of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease, a rare, incurable prion disease that affects fewer than 350 people each year in the U.S. The disease is cruelly fast, and Cheryl lived not quite 4 months after diagnosis. Cheryl or "Annie" as she was known as a young girl, was born on January 6, 1954 in Marysville, California to Ralph Leslie Palm and Marjorie Mather Palm. Armed with a master's in Zoology from UC Davis, she took off for Borneo to study orangutans before taking a position as research assistant at The Ecosystems Center at Marine Biological Lab from 1979-1983.
