Noein is ultimately a story about relationships, connections, and empathy. Validating the existences and difficulties of others. Being there to help people, and allowing ourselves to be helped. It is about surviving the past, and hoping for the future. Noein is about a lot, be it its huge scope sci-fi narrative and quantum physics, or its many emotions and important themes to that effect. It's a grand show in both ways. A big show with a big heart.
Noein is a messy show for sure, but ultimately quite fantastic. I would definitely place it in the realms of Lain and Eva for its sci-fi existentialism, themes, and conclusions. Yet despite similarities it is very much its own thing, with copious…

I discovered Kazuki Akane’s Noein: To Your Other Self through the show’s dub outtakes on Youtube. While the outtakes are very funny, I wondered what the actual show they were attached to was like. I saw the show’s blu-ray set at a record store I was at and picked it up and I gotta say it didn’t disappoint.
Noein is a show that is about, a lot of things and its appeal to me is kind of hard to explain. If I had to try to put it to words I’d call itlightning in a bottle.
It’s a show I enjoyed on many different levels. I liked the show was a neat sci-fi story about a group of kids that…

definitely a work defined by its idiosyncrasy. whether it's the thing where they, drastically, switch animators once or twice, the endearingly insane interpretation of schrödinger's cat physics, and general aesthetic weirdness: an ouroboros torc that may or may not be personified time, a future where humanity can turn itself into play-doh bio-horror energy mutants, or the occasional threat to drown us in nonsense quantum physics mumbo. because uh all that about existence being data and alternate timelines being illusions kinda lost me. underneath all this is a fantastical existential tale about reckoning with your future, reckoning with your past, with what could be, how you see your parents, and how your children see you through a lens of a trippy,…

I guess I'm just in that phase of my life where I watch all of the anime I liked when I was a little younger, and decide it isn't as good as I had remembered it to be.
Noein is half really good... and then there's all the bits with the kids, which I probably thought was endearing first time around, but find extremely irritating now. When this was first airing I was taken by it swinging between this pretty hard sci-fi action show and light, slice of life comedy. watching it now, it can be incredibly jarring from moment to moment, and a character like Yuu just comes off as a whiny little bitch. Be thankful that you get…

A poignant friendship story untertwined with a grandiose sci-fi plot about parallele worlds and time-travel. This offers an interesting and effective mix of grand and personal scales.
The design is pretty and the animation good even if you considere some flaws in certain episodes. The battle scenes are very stylish and impressives despite the extensive use of CGI during them.
Direction-wise, it is pretty good and has a certain style too (a double edge quality:you'll notice a questionable extensive usage of "whirlwind camera" shots for example).
Enjoyment : 5/5
Score: 9/10
I waited for a long time to watch it (saw the announcement trailer back in the days then had to wait 3 years for external reasons) but it was… -

If you get jerked off by a version of yourself from an alternate dimension, is it masturbation or incest?
